On the back roads of Virginia, there used to be a drive in theater frequented by many. It was the perfect place to go on a Friday night and even had a bullet diner behind it where customers could grab a bite to eat. What was once a popular stop, full of smiles and laughter has become a desolate and eerie building, avoided by most.
Today, there are halfway finished coloring sheets and crayons still sitting on the tables and cups on the counter, but something is different. The fire that destroyed most of the kitchen left the rest of the building fairly untouched, aside from a thick layer of black soot that covered everything it could.
Meet Karma. Her smile and cheerful attitude is contagious to say the least. Her delicate pretty look provided a stark contrast against the destruction left in the diner. In an atmosphere that is tangibly tragic she brought back the sunshine and laughter that had once filled the room.
Seashells and Teal boots
I love weddings. They are full of smiles, laughter, and love. One cannot help but be engulfed in the joy that permeates every moment of the special couple's big day.
This wedding was no exception.
Ryan and Mary Beth have been friends of mine for the past few years which made this day exceptionally special to be a part of. Their lakeside wedding was stunning and picture-perfect.
Red Lips and Curls
There is something to be said, in a culture bent on progress, for returning just for a moment to a time gone by. Pin-up is dated as far back as the 1890s and was a trend that continued through the 1980s. This shoot was a nod to the pin-up era, with the classic red lip, pin curls, bandana and heels.
Tawny is a beautiful human inside and out. Not only does she have an edgier look, perfect for this era, but she also served our country in the military for several years. Her love for those closest to her is inspiring and it was a pleasure to shoot with her.
One of my favorite romances of all times is the timeless love story between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. I've spent dozens of nights curled up with a good cup of tea, sniffling when he runs after her in the rain and melting as they meet on that misty morning. One of my favorite lines however is at the very end when she says he can only call her Mrs. Darcy when he is completely, totally, incandescently happy.
Meet Katie. This beautiful girl is one of my oldest and dearest friends. She exudes light wherever she goes. She has this ease about her and when she laughs, the world becomes a little bit more beautiful. No matter where she goes, she exudes complete and total incandescent happiness.
One day over Fall break my friends and I decided we were going to be incredibly audacious and visit as many state parks and waterfalls in the surrounding countryside as possible. It was a day full of beautiful waterfalls falls, stunning vistas, endless hiking and a few embarassing slip ups along the way.
Trois, the french word for "three" was the number of state parks we ended up tackling that day. It was definitely one for the books.
But if all of the dreams might find a way into my day to day scene I'll be under the impression I was somewhere in-between With only two, just me and you
It's always better when we're together
Meet Jarbi and Micmac. These two have such a light-hearted and easy-going aura about them. Individually, each of them bring so much joy to the lives of everyone around them, but together they are sparklers, shooting sparks of light into the world around them. Together, they can make the most jaded and skeptical heart believe in love again.
